The Conference focussed on the interrelationship between soil and organic matter from waste. A multiplicity of aspects, such as prevention, separate collection, the use of compost and digestate into the soil and energy recovery from methane and hydrogen have been addressed. The traditional subjects of composting and anaerobic digestion (processes, technologies, product quality and the role of organic matter in the fight against desertification) remain key issues not yet fully resolved. Finally, new considerations still arise, as energy from biomass and the role of soil in relation to climate change.
